Body found in search for woman 'dragged into lake' by 12-foot alligator in Florida Posted: 10 Jun 2018 02:03 AM PDT A body has been found in the search for a woman thought to have been killed by an alligator as she walked her dogs near a lake. A necropsy of a 12-and-a-half foot gator, captured at Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park in Davie, found the animal had bitten Shizuka Matsuki, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said. Commission spokesman Rob Klepper said they were able to positively identify the 47-year-old from evidence collected from alligator. |

New Tesla software to offer 'full' autonomy, Musk says Posted: 11 Jun 2018 07:34 AM PDT An update to Tesla's Autopilot software coming in August will enable "full self-driving features" for the automaker's electric cars, chief executive Elon Musk says. Musk's comments come amid a race by automakers and tech firms to roll out fully autonomous vehicles, but also rising concerns about the safety of robotic systems. The Tesla founder made the disclosure in a Twitter conversation, responding to a user who complained about issues with Autopilot, which is currently considered semi-autonomous with the requirement that a motorist be at the wheel at all times. |

We now officially know what the "B" in IHOP's new name means Posted: 11 Jun 2018 06:21 AM PDT Drumroll, please. Or not – it all depends on your feelings about cheap pancakes. As we predicted, after weeks of teasing, IHOP's dropping its big news. As of Monday, June 11th, 2018, the chain says it's changed its name to IHOb (for "International House of Burgers") from IHOP (for International House of Pancakes.) Wow. This is just breathtaking stuff. SEE ALSO: We think we figured out what IHOP's name change means The company made the announcement with a splashy burger-filled video posted to Twitter on Monday. IHOP customers can look forward to such traditional classics as the "Big Brunch Burger" and the "Cowboy Burger." But because change isn't easy, Twitter reacted with utter confusion: IHOP changing their name to International House of Burgers is like your Grandma saying from now on she's your Aunt. — JRehling (@JRehling) June 11, 2018 "International House of Burgers" really @IHOb ? This just doesn't make any sense. I never once ordered a burger, the B would have been better used for "breakfast." pic.twitter.com/dMhKRrgUHW — Justin O. Cooper (@justincooperpr) June 11, 2018 Your marketing team needs to be fired...ASAP. — Nicole (@Littlebethell) June 11, 2018 So IHOP becomes IHOb because they're now going to sell burgers, meanwhile, Sonic is featuring a Pickle Juice Slush. America is seriously doomed. — JT (@Jaberuski) June 11, 2018 IHOb may not be with us for long, a company representative told us: "Right now, there is not a defined time for how long we'll use the IHOb name, but it is tied to the launch; we're supporting the launch by flipping our Twitter handle and creating a fully re-burgered IHOb flagship restaurant in Hollywood, CA," Stephanie Peterson told Mashable. "All restaurants will have touches of the branding for the duration of the summer campaign. Based on fan demand, there's the chance we may create more IHOb restaurants in the future." But on a personal note: IHOb, you were there for me when no other chain was: When I was drunk and in desperate need of greasy corporate carbs. I thank you for your service. China's Xi backs nuclear deal in talks with Iran leader Posted: 10 Jun 2018 07:09 PM PDT Chinese leader Xi Jinping called for the Iran nuclear deal to be "earnestly" implemented as he met the country's president following the US withdrawal from the pact, state media said Monday. Xi met one-on-one with Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on Sunday following a two-day regional security summit in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao that also included Russia and former Soviet republics. President Donald Trump announced last month the US was withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal and re-imposing sanctions that would hit international businesses working in the Islamic republic. |

Russia's S-500 Air Defense System: An F-35, F-22 or B-1 Bomber Killer? Posted: 10 Jun 2018 04:16 PM PDT Russia's fearsome new S-500 air and missile defense system has apparently entered production—and is setting new records for missile engagement range. The next generation weapon is designed to supplement Moscow's already potent S-400 and replace the A-135 anti-ballistic missile system. Not only does the weapon have unprecedented capability to hit high altitude targets—including ballistic missiles and satellites—at extremely long ranges, there have been some claims—usually from the media—that the system could target stealth aircraft. |

The treatment, atogepant, belongs to a class of migraine drugs also being developed by Eli Lilly and Alder Biopharmaceuticals that target a protein associated with pain signaling called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP). Last month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Amgen Inc's CGRP treatment Aimovig, which is self injected monthly and will have a list price of $6,900 a year, or $575 a month. |

Edward Leung was convicted in May of rioting over the 2016 running battles with police, when demonstrators hurled bricks torn up from pavements and set rubbish alight in the commercial district of Mong Kok. Handing down his jail term, Judge Anthea Pang said Leung actively participated in the riots and described his actions as "wanton and vicious". |

Berlin talks bid to revive stalled Ukraine peace process Posted: 10 Jun 2018 08:22 PM PDT Ukraine and Russia's foreign ministers meet their German and French counterparts on Monday in a renewed bid to resolve the smouldering civil war as Moscow seeks to shed Western sanctions. The Ukraine conflict, half-forgotten by the West amid other crises and its own divisions, has claimed over 10,000 lives and still sees daily clashes between pro-Russian and Ukrainian forces. President Vladimir Putin last Thursday warned that any military "provocations" while Russia hosts the football World Cup would have "very severe consequences for Ukraine as a state". |

The investigation by US-based China Labor Watch found a series of problems including inadequate worker training and overtime pay, excessive overtime hours beyond limits set by Chinese law, and verbal abuse of workers by management. "All workers are subject to long hours and low wages," the report said, noting workers at Foxconn's plant in the central China city of Hengyang made an average of $2.26 per hour. |
