Prosecutors urge judge not to clear ex-Guantanamo detainee (Reuters)

Reuters - U.S. prosecutors said on Tuesday that a partial conviction of the first Guantanamo detainee to face a civilian trial cannot form a basis for the judge to clear the Tanzanian terrorism suspect or grant him a new trial.

AP - The State Department says it could remove Sudan from its list of states that sponsor terrorism as early as July, if the results of this week's referendum on creating an independent Southern Sudan are accepted by the country's north.

AP - A federal judge declined Tuesday to release a Guantanamo Bay prisoner who was arrested after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with a suspected terrorist leader but claimed he was the victim of mistaken identity.
