(Reuters) - Hundreds of people on Saturday attended the funeral of Sandra Bland, a black woman found dead in a Texas jail cell days after she was arrested following a minor traffic offense, an incident said by activists to be yet another example of police brutality toward minorities. "This is not a moment of defeat, this is an hour of victory ... We are not funeralizing a martyr or a victim, we are celebrating a hero," said Reverend James Miller, who led the funeral service. Bland, 28, was pulled over by a white Texas state trooper on July 10 near Prairie View, Texas, northwest of Houston, for failing to signal a lane change.

Franklin is about 50 miles southeast of Lafayette. Breaux and Jillian Johnson, 33, were killed on Thursday night when authorities said John R. Houser, fired at them and others at the Grand 16 Theater in Lafayette during the movie "Trainwreck." Houser, 59, then killed himself.

Federal judge orders information be seized from Arizona sheriff

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio watches as actor Steven Seagal addresses the media about a simulated school shooting in Fountain HillsA federal judge on Friday ordered U.S. marshals to seize documents from the office of controversial Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio as part of an ongoing racial profiling case.     U.S. District Judge Murray Snow issued the order at an emergency hearing he convened after a court-appointed monitor reported that the sheriff's office had failed to turn over information being sought in connection with the case.     In a brief order, Snow required that 1,459 identifications apparently taken from people by sheriff's deputies during law enforcement actions and which were about to be destroyed be produced for federal marshals.
