| FBI investigates pro-IS hacks: report Posted: 09 Mar 2015 01:09 AM PDT  The FBI is investigating a string of hacks that defaced US websites with imagery from the Islamic State jihadist group, NBC News reported on Monday. The FBI said it was aware of the incidents and "is contacting the impacted parties." A security analyst told NBC it was unlikely the hacks had any "real connection" to the Islamic State group. "Hacked by Islamic State (ISIS) We Are Everywhere," the hacked website said while playing music associated with the group.

(Reuters) - Close to 2,000 students marched in Wisconsin's capital on Monday to protest the fatal police shooting of an unarmed biracial teenager, while his family demanded justice and the police chief apologized. Students crowded into the rotunda of the state Capitol in the morning, chanting and waving signs to protest the death of Tony Robinson, 19, shot on Friday by a white police officer. Later, Turin Carter, Robinson's uncle, said his family was calling for a thorough investigation and was concerned about the "systematic targeting of young black males," but did not endorse blanket anti-police sentiments. "We are not proponents of anti-police (attitudes)... We understand that law enforcement is necessary and mandatory and we need to change our mindset about the police," Carter said at a news conference outside the house where Robinson was shot.

| Flight crew cite brake problem in Delta NYC accident: NTSB Posted: 09 Mar 2015 01:48 PM PDT  A brake problem may have caused a Delta Air Lines Inc jet to skid off a runway at New York's LaGuardia Airport last week, according to testimony from the flight's crew, federal safety investigators said Monday. The auto brakes were set to "max," but the crew "did not sense any wheel brake deceleration" before the plane crashed into a fence, the National Transportation Safety Board said in a statement. Another MD-88 aircraft operated by Delta landed on the same runway 3 minutes prior to the plane that crashed, the crew of which described the braking action on the runway as "good," the agency said. Still, the National Transportation Safety Board said it is examining the weather conditions at the time of the accident.

Running on adrenaline, she did not realize the blast from one of the two homemade pressure-cooker bombs had set her back on fire, Kensky told jurors in the third day of accused bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's federal trial in Boston. "A man came over as I was trying to fumble to put a tourniquet on Patrick and said, 'Ma'am you're on fire, you're on fire.'" Tsarnaev, 21, is accused of killing three people and injuring 264, including Kensky, at the famed race's crowded finish line on April 15, 2013. She and her husband, Patrick Downes, were taken to separate hospitals and did not see each other for two weeks until a volunteer medical crew brought her to visit him.

Investigators have charged two men including a former Chechen police official over the shooting of Nemtsov on Feb. 27, the most high-profile killing of a political figure since Putin took power in 2000. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said the ex-policeman, Zaur Dadayev, was a pious Muslim who had been angered by publication of caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad in French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Nemtsov had condemned an attack on Charlie Hebdo in which Islamist militants killed 12 people in January.

| Wisconsin capital marked by third day of protests after police shooting Posted: 08 Mar 2015 10:16 PM PDT  More than 100 people angry over the death of Tony Robinson Jr. marched through the streets of Madison toward the capital building on Sunday evening, carrying signs, beating drums and chanting "The people united will never be defeated." Earlier scores of people who took part in a sign-making event designed to involve children in the civil action rallied outside the apartment home where Robinson died. Robinson, 19, was shot in Madison, Wisconsin's capital, on Friday evening after Officer Matt Kenny responded to calls about a man dodging cars in traffic who had allegedly battered another person, Police Chief Mike Koval said. Last year, the deaths of unarmed black men in Ferguson, Missouri, and New York City triggered a wave of demonstrations against the use of excessive force by law enforcement officers. Kenny is on paid administrative leave while the Wisconsin Department of Justice conducts an investigation.
