Under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed by the United States, Russia, China and three European powers, Iran curbed its nuclear work in return for the lifting of most sanctions. The U.S. Senate voted on the same day to impose new sanctions on Iran, Russia and North Korea.

Moscow court shooting: Three 'Grand Theft Auto gang members' killed in bungled bid to escape trialA shooting in a courthouse in a Moscow suburb resulted in three assailants dead and two heavily injured on Tuesday afternoon. Two convoy officers, a man and a woman, also sustained injuries, as did an officer of the National Guard, Russia's newest law enforcement task force. A bailiff stands behind a fence at the main entrance of Moscow Regional Court Credit: Andrey Nikerichev/Moscow News Agency The shooters were alleged members of the so-called "GTA gang" - a reference to the popular video game Grand Theft Auto - a mysterious crime group that used to terrorise drivers heading south on the M4 highway that connects Moscow and Rostov-on-Don. Between 2013 and 2014 the gang was reported to stop cars on the highway by using different methods to damage their tyres, including shooting at the wheels. Gang members would then approach drivers, pretending to offer help but instead robbing and brutally murdering them. In November 2014 the Investigative Committee reported arresting the supposed gang members. In August 2016, a trial of nine of them began in the Moscow Region Court located in a northwestern suburb of the capital. Police officers walk towards Moscow Regional Court Credit: Andrey Nikerichev/Moscow News Agency The accused were charged with 17 counts of murder, as well as robbery, banditry, illicit firearms trafficking and document forgery. On Tuesday, five of the accused were being transported to the courtroom by two convoy officers, a man and a woman, for another court hearing of the case. In the elevator, it is reported that one of them attacked one of the convoy officers, while the others seized the officers' guns. Once the elevator arrived to the third floor of the courthouse, the accused started shooting at the National Guard officers waiting for them in the hall in an attempt to flee from the courthouse. Both of the convoy officers were injured, as well as one National Guard officer. The other National Guard officers tried to disarm and stop the shooters, killing three of them and heavily injuring two in the process. According to the statement National Guard issued on the heels of the shooting, no one among "civilians" present at the courthouse at the moment was hurt "thanks to the brave and professional actions of the National Guard officers."   The prosecutor's office of the Moscow region opened a criminal probe into the accident. Moscow region prosecutor Alexei Zakharov promised to investigate possible violations of the convoy procedure. Perpetrators of the shooting are likely to face additional charges of attempt at murder of a law enforcement officer, stealing firearms and attempt at fleeing custody.   The shooting happened at the Moscow Regional Court, around 12 miles from the centre of Moscow

Nissan attacked for one of 'nastiest anti-union campaigns' in modern US historyDays before a potentially historic union vote at the Nissan plant in Canton, Mississippi, the car company has been accused of running one of the "nastiest anti-union campaigns in the modern history of the American labour movement". The vote, a fiercely contested effort by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union to represent a foreign automaker's US plant, is planned for Thursday and Friday this week. In the closing days of the campaign, which has attracted support from the former presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, UAW officials and their allies have become increasingly confident of victory even as managers have pressured workers to vote no. "People are rallying," says Frank Figgers, co-chair of the Mississippi Alliance for Fairness at Nissan.

Ford’s Mustang is getting a ‘Good Neighbor Mode’ thanks to an engineer’s angry neighbors

Ford's Mustang is getting a 'Good Neighbor Mode' thanks to an engineer's angry neighbors

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, you've likely experienced the unfiltered rage that comes with being disturbed by a particularly loud car or motorcycle passing by your home. It can be incredibly annoying, especially if it jolts you out of an otherwise pleasant slumber, but Ford thinks it has a solution, and it's all thanks to a little incident between a former Ford engineer and his ticked-off neighbors.

The 2018 Ford Mustang will come with what is being casually referred to as "Good Neighbor Mode." Activated within the vehicle's dash menu system, the quiet mode seeks to mute much of the rumble of the exhaust pipes in an effort to keep your neighborhood from turning against you. It can be set manually or activated on a set schedule, automatically turning on or off depending on the time of day.

Steve von Forester is responsible for the neighborly new feature. He's the former head of vehicle engineering at Ford and now leads the team which designs and tweaks the overall user experience. Von Forester is also a Mustang owner with a V8 Shelby GT350, which had a habit of rustling his neighbors' feathers. After one particularly touchy situation in which one neighbor called 911 to complain about his loud exhaust, Von Forester came up with the idea for the quiet exhaust option.

Along with an overall calmer exhaust note, the newest Mustangs will also get a "Quiet Start" option, which will prevent the vehicle from roaring as the driver turns the key. These features should add up to an overall more suburb-friendly sports car, but that's only if Mustang owners actually decide to use them.

See Samsung's new flip phone powered on for the first time

Galaxy Note 8 leaks have been dominating the headlines of tech blogs for months now. We've seen renders, cases, release windows and rumored specs sheets, but it's easy to forget that the Note 8 likely won't be the only other phone Samsung releases in the second half of the year. Along with the S8 Active, Samsung is also reportedly working on two smart flip phones, both of which could launch in 2017.

We highlighted the Samsung flip phone leaks last month, but over the weekend (via Slashleaks), photos of the SM-G9298 powered up and out in the wild appeared online for the very first time.

At a glance, the SM-G9298 looks relatively advanced for a flip phone. It features a near bezel-less 4.2-inch display on both the outside and the inside of the top flap, both of which look sharp in the leaked images. The phone could almost pass as a miniature Galaxy S8 from the front (if it didn't also flip open).

The physical buttons are situated similarly to the buttons on the SM-G1650 we covered in June, though the Home, Back and Recent buttons now surround the control pad while the dedicated buttons for camera and email functionality have vanished altogether. As for specifications, previous leaks suggest that the flip phone will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 2,300mAh battery, 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.

Unfortunately, the phone will almost certainly launch in a few Asian markets, including China, so our Western readers will have to stick with non-flippable phones. The good news is that if a final or near-final version of the phone is floating around in the wild, the unveiling should come soon.

Ancient fidget spinner confirms there's really nothing new under the sun

Ancient fidget spinner confirms there's really nothing new under the sunOld trends always have a way of popping back up, don't they? Wired editor, Arielle Pardes, left Twitter shook on Monday after posting a very revealing photo of how far we have come as a society. Spoiler: we haven't come that far. SEE ALSO: The Hidden History of Fidget Spinners You know these new wacky gadgets called fidget spinners that have taken over the internet? Apparently, they have been around since roughly 2000-1800 B.C.E., as made evident by this museum display.  Proof that there are no original ideas anymore pic.twitter.com/7zPxYha7QQ — Arielle Pardes (@pardesoteric) July 31, 2017 Apparently, in ancient Iraq, they made a "spinning toy with animal heads" out of baked clay.  Who knew people in biblical times had trouble focusing? Surely there were less distractions.  Though the majority of Twitter found this revelation both hilarious and surprising, a few people pointed out that this ancient fidget spinner resembles more of a spice if anything. Looks like a chunk of ginger to me. — Laurence Pelletier (@laurpelletier) July 31, 2017 Who threw a lump of ginger into the display case? — COLIN ALSTON (@COLINALSTON1) July 31, 2017 Well at least our fidget spinners come in fun colors. Also, is clay really the best material for toy that is supposed to spin? We are grateful the necessary changes were made in our 2017 model.  Next time you think you've come up with a mind-blowing invention, better check your local museum. It's all been done before.  WATCH: These ingenious inventions will make summer so much better

Qatar Airways expected to access contingency routes in August: sourceBy Allison Lampert MONTREAL (Reuters) - Qatar Airways is expected to have access to three contingency routes over international waters in early August, after a UN-led meeting on Monday discussed air corridors for Doha following a rift with its neighbors, a source familiar with the matter said. Qatar had asked the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to intervene after its national carrier was denied access to the airspace of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates as part of economic sanctions. The four countries severed ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of supporting terrorism, something Doha denies.

Your cable company is robbing you every month, but we'll tell you how to stop them

Like millions of other Americans across the country, you're probably paying more for home internet service than you should be. No, we're not simply talking about the inflated monthly fees ISPs charge for actual home internet service, because that's supply and demand. We're talking about the extra $8 to $10 you spend each month on your modem rental fee. You probably don't even realize it. Go look at your bill… it's there. What you might not know, however, is that you can purchase your own compatible modem for next to nothing, and that monthly fee with vanish as soon as you return your leased modem to your cable provider. There are a bunch of good options out there, but we recommend the NETGEAR CM400 (8x4) DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem, which is discounted right now on Amazon and compatible with every major ISP in the US.

Here are some key details from the product page:

  • ELIMINTE MONTHLY CABLE MODEM RENTAL FEES - Up to $120 per year
  • DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with 1 Gigabit Ethernet port. DOCSIS 3.0 unleashes 8x faster download speeds than DOCSIS 2.0
  • Recommended for all speed tiers up to 100Mbps. Separate router required for WiFi. 8x4 channel bonding.
  • Ideal for streaming HD videos, faster downloads, and high-speed online gaming
  • Compatible with Xfinity from Comcast, Spectrum (Charter, Time Warner Cable, Brighthouse), Cox, CableONE & more.
  • **Not compatible with bundled voice services. Not a WiFi device. Needs a separate WiFi Router**

Incredibly rare white snake found in Australia

Posted: 01 Aug 2017 07:08 AM PDT

Incredibly rare white snake found in Australia  A bright white snake with an "incredibly rare mutation" has been found in Australia's Northern Territory. The reptile was rescued by a resident in the area and handed into the Territory Wildlife Park where it is currently being cared for. "It is a white slaty grey, which is native to Australia but this one has an incredibly rare mutation, as they are usually a dark brown colour," the park said. "The nocturnal snake will be placed in quarantine at the park to ensure it is free of any nasties that can harm our other animals and then be put on display for everyone to marvel at." Staff said the white snake's black eyes indicate it is leucistic and not albino. They added the snake will not be released back into the wild as it "would be unlikely to live long".   "Animals of this colouring are usually 'sitting ducks'," they added. "This one was also in a conflict zone with human pets - so safer with us, and we will make sure she has a good life free of threats. "In an ideal world we would not need to rescue wildlife, but humans have created this situation and we have to try and manage it the best we can."  Electrocuted cannibal snakes give workers a massive fright  Funniest animals
