Suspect killed after attack on Dallas police headquarters Posted: 13 Jun 2015 01:07 PM PDT By Lisa Maria Garza DALLAS (Reuters) - A man who attacked the headquarters of the Dallas Police Department with gunfire and explosives early on Saturday was found dead inside a van after a standoff that ended when police snipers shot him, authorities said. The hours-long drama began soon after midnight when the suspect riddled police headquarters with bullets and left behind at least two devices in duffle bags that later exploded, police said. The attack shattered windows and left bullet holes in the building's walls and in squad cars parked outside. |

Virginia officer indicted in killing of black man released on bond Posted: 13 Jun 2015 02:26 PM PDT Norfolk Police officer Michael Edington Jr., 25, was charged this week with voluntary manslaughter over the June 6, 2014 shooting death of 35-year-old David Latham. Edington said Latham had threatened him with a knife, the Virginia Pilot newspaper reported. Edington, who was indicted by a special grand jury on Thursday, was booked into jail and released on his own recognizance without having to post a cash bond, the Pilot reported. |
