Bill Clinton fires back at Black Lives Matter protesters in Philadelphia Posted: 07 Apr 2016 02:42 PM PDT Former President Bill Clinton fired back at Black Lives Matter protesters who repeatedly interrupted him during a campaign event for his wife, Hillary Clinton, in Philadelphia Thursday. "I like protesters, but the ones who won't let you answer are afraid of the truth," Clinton said, before attempting to defend some of the more controversial policies of his own presidency, such as the 1994 Violent Crime Control Act, that have prompted activist criticism against Hillary Clinton's White House bid. Despite having since denounced the legislation — which, more than 20 years after its passage, is widely considered responsible for the problem of mass incarceration in the U.S. — Hillary Clinton's previous support for the bill has continued to haunt her presidential campaign, as has the comment she made referring to juvenile offenders as "super predators" during her husband's 1996 primary campaign for reelection. |

Belgium releases video of suspect fleeing after airport bombings Posted: 07 Apr 2016 01:29 PM PDT Belgian prosecutors on Thursday launched a fresh appeal for help in finding the suspected surviving attacker in last month's Brussels airport bombings, releasing a video of the escape route taken by the so-called "man in the hat". Police have been desperately searching for the third suspect ever since he was seen on CCTV next to the two suicide bombers who blew themselves up at the airport in coordinated attacks that also struck a Brussels metro station. The newly released police video shows the man, wearing a dark hat and a light-coloured jacket, fleeing the airport's departure hall after the bombs went off at 07:58 am on March 22. |

Bernie Sanders says Hillary Clinton is not qualified to be president Posted: 07 Apr 2016 05:56 AM PDT In an escalating a war of words between Democratic rivals, Bernie Sanders says Hillary Clinton is not "qualified" to be president. "Secretary Clinton appears to be getting a little bit nervous," Sanders said at a rally in Philadelphia on Wednesday. "I don't think that you are qualified if you get $15 million from Wall Street through your super-PAC," Sanders said. |
Megyn Kelly: Trump tried to ‘curry favor’ with me at start of campaign Posted: 07 Apr 2016 06:58 AM PDT Up until about a year ago, Donald Trump was but a minor figure in Megyn Kelly's life. Then, shortly before he launched his historically unconventional presidential campaign in June 2015, Trump started reaching out to Kelly directly. In retrospect, Kelly told Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric at Tina Brown's seventh annual Women in the World summit Wednesday, the candidate was likely "trying to curry favor" with the Fox News anchor. |

Trump returns to New York amid rumors of campaign turmoil Posted: 06 Apr 2016 06:23 PM PDT A day after losing Wisconsin's Republican presidential primary, Donald Trump brought his insurgent campaign to New York Wednesday night, kicking off a bid to win his home state primary with a massive rally that harkened back to the early days of his unlikely presidential effort. "It's great to be home," Trump declared in a massive movie studio soundstage in the heart of Long Island that was packed with at least 10,000 people — one of his biggest rallies in more than a month. "I love New York. |
Bill Clinton confronts protesters who say his crime reforms hurt blacks Posted: 07 Apr 2016 03:47 PM PDT By Luciana Lopez and Jonathan Allen NEW YORK (Reuters) - Former President Bill Clinton faced down protesters angry at the impact his crime reforms of 20 years ago have had on black Americans and defended the record of Hillary Clinton, his wife, who is relying on the support of black voters in her quest for the presidency. The former president spent more than 10 minutes confronting the protesters at a campaign rally in Philadelphia for his wife on Thursday over criticisms that a 1994 crime bill he approved while president led to a surge in the imprisonment of black people. The Democratic race for the Nov. 8 election has become increasingly heated as Hillary Clinton, stung by a string of losses in state contests, has traded barbs with her rival for the party's nomination, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, over who is better prepared for the White House. |
