Hyundai Q3 profit plummets on slowing sales, currency swings Posted: 25 Oct 2018 12:16 AM PDT Hyundai Motor reported a 67 percent plunge in third-quarter net profit from the previous year after overseas sales slowed and currency swings hurt its bottom line in emerging markets. Net profit for July to September was 306 billion won ($268.8 million), while operating profit plummeted 76 percent year-on-year to 288.9 billion won, the firm said in a statement. "The third quarter was a difficult time due to slowing demand in major markets including the US and concerns over a global trade dispute," said Hyundai, which together with its subsidiary Kia is the world's fifth-largest automaker. |

Oil Traders Who Expect Iran Waivers Are in for a Shock: Hedgeye Posted: 25 Oct 2018 09:10 PM PDT Traders who expect the U.S. to hand out waivers allowing certain nations to continue buying oil from the Islamic Republic, "are making a huge miscalculation," Joe McMonigle, head of energy policy at Hedgeye, said in a note. "We see more than a 50 percent chance of an early enforcement of Iran sanctions to send a message and incentivize others to get Iran imports to zero," McMonigle said. The international benchmark could even hit $90 a barrel for the first time since 2014, before settling back to around $85, McMonigle said. |

Saudi authorities last week claimed Khashoggi, a Washington Post contributor, was killed during a "brawl", and arrested 18 Saudis in connection with his death. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier this week said the "savage" murder had been planned, while Turkish media have published gruesome details of Khashoggi's alleged torture and decapitation. |

British officials seized on the symbolism of the £40 million ($50 million, 45 million euros) investment in the plant, which stands near a local university with which Boeing has cooperated for nearly two decades. "Boeing choosing the heart of South Yorkshire as its first European home is testament to our capabilities, talent pool and strong manufacturing supply chains," Business Secretary Greg Clark said. |

Only two senators on the 21-member Judiciary Committee, both Republicans, showed up for the hearing in Washington on Wednesday in which four judicial nominees were considered. She accused the Republicans of a "mad dash" to secure confirmation. |
