With Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis jailed for refusing to follow the orders of U.S. District Judge David Bunning, her deputies issued a marriage license to James Yates and William Smith on Friday. |
Videos a focus of probe into Illinois policeman's slaying Posted: 04 Sep 2015 01:17 PM PDT Investigators in northern Illinois on Friday pieced together several videos to build a visual timeline around the fatal shooting of a veteran policeman while a $50,000 reward was offered for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the culprits. Hundreds of law enforcement officers for a fourth day searched the region of Fox Lake, located about 60 miles (97 km) north of Chicago near the Wisconsin border, for three men suspected in the Tuesday's shooting of Fox Lake police Lieutenant Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, 52. The videos come from various sources, including transportation department cameras at nearby traffic intersections, businesses and residences, Lake County Major Crime Task Force Commander George Filenko told a news conference. |
Police show in force for funeral of Texas deputy killed in shooting Posted: 04 Sep 2015 12:33 PM PDT More than 10,000 law enforcement officers from across the United States attended the Houston funeral of Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth on Friday, remembering him as good-natured man who brought dignity to the profession. Goforth, 47, was fatally shot on Aug. 28 as he fueled a patrol car at a Houston-area gas station. Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman said officers responding to calls for help will be doing so in Goforth's honor. |
